Who They're For and What They Solve
Drywall texture is the finish applied over taped and sanded drywall to give walls and ceilings a consistent surface pattern. It can be sprayed through a hopper gun or worked by hand with a trowel. Texture hides seams, absorbs light differently than flat drywall, and defines how a finished room actually looks.
Anyone with fresh drywall needs it. So does anyone with a repaired patch, a water-stained ceiling, or a wall that was skim-coated and left bare. Remodels, additions, and pre-sale refreshes all end here. Our texture work follows naturally after drywall finishing and taping , which prepares the surface underneath.
Texture solves the visibility problem. Without it, every joint, screw dimple, and patch outline telegraphs through paint the moment light hits the wall sideways. Skip it or apply it poorly and you get blotchy sheen, obvious repair rectangles, and a finish that looks unfinished no matter how good the paint is.
Is It Time?
Most people notice the problem before they know the name for it.
Our Services
We handle every common texture style plus the hardest part of the job, matching what’s already on your wall.
Sprayed on in a heavy spatter, then flattened with a wide blade once it sets. Produces a soft, mottled, low-profile finish. Best for living areas and ceilings where you want dimension without a busy pattern. Knocking down at the right moment is what makes or breaks it.
A fine spray spatter left as it lands, creating a subtle bumpy surface like citrus skin. The most common wall texture in modern homes. Great for hallways, bedrooms, and rentals because it hides minor imperfections and cleans easily without looking heavy.
Skip trowel, Santa Fe, swirl, and stomp finishes worked by hand with a knife or brush. Slower and more expensive than spray, but the character is impossible to fake. Best for feature walls, ceilings, and homes with existing hand-troweled finishes.
The specialty most contractors skip. We sample the existing texture, dial in mud consistency and spray pressure, test on a board, then feather the new work into the old. Done right, you cannot find the repair line.
Not sure which approach your situation needs? We assess first and recommend only what’s necessary, no upsells.
Why Homeowners Choose Mr. Local Services
If the new texture doesn't blend with the existing surface, we re-do it at no cost. We put that in the quote.
Square-foot pricing given in writing before we start. No change orders once the plastic goes up.
Our finishers have textured thousands of walls and ceilings. Spray calibration and trowel work are practiced skills, not guesses.
Plastic masking, taped seams, floor protection, and HEPA vacuum before we leave. Texture work is dusty. Your house shouldn't be.

Full containment goes up first. We test the match on a board, confirm it with you, then texture the surface.
Texture cures, we walk the job with you under raking light, correct anything, vacuum, and haul out all materials.
Pricing
We quote flat rates in writing after seeing the surface, and we publish our ranges because guessing helps nobody.
Factors that affect price: total square footage, texture style, ceiling versus wall, whether old texture must be knocked down first, height and access, and how difficult the existing pattern is to match.
Typical ranges: spray texture on walls and ceilings generally runs $1.00–$2.25 per square foot. Hand-applied finishes like skip trowel run $2.00–$4.00 per square foot. Small patch matching jobs typically fall between $200 and $500 depending on repair size and texture complexity.
Every quote is flat-rate and honored as written.
Yes, and we guarantee it. We sample the surface, test on a board, and confirm the match with you before we spray the wall.
Most sprayed textures are paint-ready in 24 hours. Heavier hand-applied finishes may need 48 hours in humid conditions.
Orange peel is a fine spatter left as sprayed. Knockdown is a heavier spatter flattened with a blade, giving a softer, wider pattern.
No. We contain the work area with plastic and run HEPA vacuums, so the rest of your home stays usable throughout.
Yes. If the surface needs priming or smoothing first, that's included in our quote, and it overlaps with our paint preparation services.
